Terms of use
Last updated 26 September 2026. These cover this website. Using it means these apply; if you do not agree with them, the right answer is not to use it.
The short version
- Everything here is free today and nothing takes payment.
- An account is optional, and it exists to remember your progress.
- It is study material, not a warranty that an implementation is correct for your use.
- Do not attack it, do not drain it, and do not use it to harm anyone else.
What this is
AlgoScope is study material for data structures and algorithms: lessons you step through, questions that ask you to predict what happens next, and an editor that runs your own implementation against a lesson's cases in your browser. About describes it in more detail.
Everything on the site is free to use today and nothing on it charges for anything. The home page describes a paid tier that is not released. If that changes, the terms of it will be stated before anyone is asked for money, not after.
Accounts
- You need an address you can actually read, because signing in depends on it.
- An account is for one person. Keep your password and your sign-in links to yourself.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account while you are signed in.
- You can delete it yourself, at any time, in settings, and everything keyed to it goes with it.
- We can suspend or remove an account that is being used to attack the service or to harm other people. In practice that means abuse, not disagreement.
Age
The site is meant for people aged 13 and over, and accounts are not knowingly created for anyone younger. Reading the lessons needs no account at all, which is the part that matters for a younger student: nothing about them is collected.
What is expected of you
The whole list, and it is the ordinary one:
- Do not try to break, overload or gain access to parts of the service that are not yours.
- Do not automate requests at a rate that degrades it for other people. The lessons are static files; if you need them in bulk, ask.
- Do not use the code editor as a way to attack anything. It runs in your own browser, in a sandbox, with a time budget, so this is mostly a statement of intent.
- Do not republish the lessons as if they were yours.
What you write stays yours
Code you type into a lesson is yours. It runs in your browser and is never sent to us, so there is nothing here to claim rights over and no rights are claimed. Drafts are saved in your own browser storage, which means clearing that clears them, and nobody else can read them.
What the lessons are, and are not
The pictures are the engine running the algorithm and recording what changed, so what a lesson shows is what that implementation does. That is a strong claim about the visualization and a weak one about your use of it: these are teaching implementations, chosen to be legible at a step at a time, and they are not tuned, hardened or certified for production. Check anything you take from here before it matters.
The service is provided as it is. There is no uptime promise, no guarantee that a lesson is free of mistakes, and no liability accepted for what you do with what you learn. When there is a mistake, reporting it is genuinely useful and it gets fixed: open an issue or write to us.
Changes
These terms can change - the obvious case is the paid tier arriving. The date at the top changes with them, and a change that affects what you have already paid for or what is held about you will be said plainly rather than left to be noticed.
